⛵ Sell your boat
Post the boat listing yourself — for free. No registration number to look up: you fill in boat type, length, engine and model year, upload photos and publish in minutes.
How it works
- ✓ 1. Fill in the facts about the boat — Boat type, length in feet, engine (hp), model year and hull material. The more you fill in, the more easily the boat sells itself.
- ✓ 2. Upload good photos — At least 5–6 photos: the boat from the side, cockpit, engine, interior and any damage. You can take photos straight from your phone via QR code.
- ✓ 3. Set a price and publish — Choose a fixed price or «open to offers». Publishing is free — you can edit the listing at any time.
What we ask about
- ✓ Boat type (e.g. Bowrider, Cabin cruiser, Sailing boat, RIB)
- ✓ Length and beam in feet, and model year
- ✓ Engine — horsepower (hp), engine type and fuel
- ✓ Hull material (fibreglass, aluminium, wood …)
- ✓ Photos and price
Mooring, berths and engine hours are optional — fill in what you know.
💡 Tips for a good boat listing
- ✓ Be honest about the condition — describe wear, repairs and known faults. It gives buyers confidence and means fewer haggling disputes.
- ✓ Take photos in daylight — on land or on the water. Show the hull, deck, cockpit, engine bay and interior.
- ✓ State engine hours and the last service — it's among the first things boat buyers look for.
- ✓ Include equipment in the description — chartplotter, sounder, canopy, VHF, life jackets, trailer.
- ✓ Mention the berth or storage arrangement — if the marina berth can be transferred, that's a big plus.
- ✓ Set a realistic price — compare with similar boats of the same size and age.
- ✓ Check the insurance — as a seller you typically have a month's notice period; make sure the buyer has insurance ready before handover.
⚖️ Good to know before selling
A used boat sold between private parties in Malta falls under the Civil Code's rules on sale, including the warranty against latent defects (Cap. 16, arts. 1424–1432) — the seller answers for hidden defects that make the boat unfit for use or materially reduce its value. Give correct and complete information about the boat's condition. We recommend a written purchase contract and that the buyer sees the boat before the deal.
- ✓ Disclose known faults, damage and repairs
- ✓ Have the paperwork ready: the registration certificate if the boat is on a register (e.g. the Transport Malta Small Ships Register), CE marking (boats built/imported after 16 June 1998), service history and any boat-loan/encumbrance information
- ✓ Meet the buyer in a safe place and use traceable payment — never pay strangers in advance
